Description: | Fragment from top. Heavy cylindrical shaft (hollow) broken at lower end where it begins to flare out. Slight flare at top where it meets the crowning member, the vertical face of which is decorated with a tongue pattern. Top like a small shallow plate, with broad projecting rim, the rim glazed black, black also on an inset step just inside it. Red wash on the floor. At the center of the floor a hole, connecting with the interior of the stand, and glazed black inside. Excellent glaze. Cf. P 14007 (Σ 1958). | |
